The HRD Signals Test Assistant course is a professional development course aimed at providing experienced staff with the additional knowledge and practical skills to assist Testers.

Course Content

The Test Assistant will provide the practical assistance to the Tester with the following tasks:

• inspection of location case - quality of workmanship and correct componenets
• inspection of bonding plans and SAPs compared to actual install
• check and confirmation installation is complete
• assist with the testing of power supplies
• assist with testing of track circuit functions
• assisting with the testing of points mechanisms and associated circuits
• assisting with testing of signal heads, train protection and associated equipment
• assisting with the testing of signal control circuits in location cases (excluding strap and function tests)
• assist with the testing of wiring - including wire count, null count and continuity (Bell)
• assist with the testing of cables - including continuity, insulation test and polarity
