The HRD RS3.2 Railway Signalling Control Systems Concepts training course provides participants with the fundamental principles and an overview of rail signalling equipment located in control rooms and wayside.
The evolution of existing equipment and the adoption of overlaying technologies in the intervening years have produced the current signalling infrastructure in Victoria and in the other Australian states.

Competency Standards
This RS3.2 training module provides learning toward the requirements of the training requirements for the following Job roles of the Signalling Statement of Competencies (SoC):
 Signalling Assistant Constructor
 Signalling Maintainer
 Signalling Assistant Designer

 

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
 Identify and explain the application of safe working rules that prevent collisions between two trains within an interlocked area
 Explain the functions and purpose of mechanical interlocking
 Explain the function and purpose of relay interlocking circuits
 Explain the functions and configuration of level crossing systems.
 Describe the monitoring functions of level crossing.
 Identify and explain the application of signal control systems and block diagrams
 Read and interpret rail signalling drawings and diagrams
 Identify and interpret codes applicable to rail signalling control systems
